Ever since I turned 10, I have been using the neutrogena grapefruit oil-free acne scrub. I always thought that my face felt "clean" after using it. And it probably was. What I didn't know was how bad the sulfates in it are for your face. If you've used this product before, your face might have felt taught after using it. Mine always looked sort of blotchy. But in the end, it did the job, which was "preventing" more acne. Or so I thought. Recently, I switched to a homemade coconut face scrub, which I can honestly say that it greatly changed my face. And today, I am going to teach you how to make it.
Did you know that coconut oil keeps your skin looking young? It has been used to treat skin disorders including eczema. The coconut oil moisturizes your face, while scrubbing it clean and keeping it from aging at the same time. Why wouldn't you not want to try it?
When you use normal face wash everyday, it is stripping your face of the natural oils it needs to keep your face moisturized and healthy. This leads to dry skin, which then makes your face reproduce more oils faster, which then leads to more acne. The antioxidants in coconut oil treats your face, but also moisturizes it, leading to soft, healthy skin that is free of the gross stuff.
DIY Coconut Oil Face Scub
You Will Need:
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Combine the sugar and the coconut oil in a container and mix. You want a constancy that is not liquid, but smooth enough it is easy to remove some and put it on your face. If the mixture becomes very liquidated, place it in the fridge until it solidifies.
Use a coin sized amount on your face, 1-2 times a day. Scrub it in with your hands and then rinse with water. You should notice more moisturized, less irritated skin in 2-3 days.
I hope this helps! What do you use on your face to keep it clean?
