Even though it is starting to get cold outside, ice cream is still a necessity! And what better time to make it one of winter's most popular flavors: peppermint? Today I whipped together this quick ice cream that looks gorgeous and tastes delicious!
The recipe I used can be found here. To make it, you will need the following ingredients:
1 1/2 Cup milk
1 1/2 Cup half and half
2 Cup whipping cream
1 1/4 Cup sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1-4 tsp salt
1 Cup crushed peppermint candy
Step 1: Combine all of the milks together. I used a large measuring cup as a bowl.
Step 2: Add the sugar and combine until it has dissolved
Step 3: Add the vanilla, peppermint extract, and salt, then combine.
Step 4a: If you have one, pour your cream mixture into an ice cream churner
Step 4b: If you do not have an ice cream churner, place it in a loaf pan, or any other baking pan which you can freeze.
Step 5a: Add in the crushed peppermint candy as it starts to churn. Leave it to churn for the usual amount of time, or until it is frozen and creamy.
Step 5b: If you don't have an ice cream churner, add the peppermint crushed candy mix, and freeze for 2 hours, then stir, then freeze for another 2 hours, stir, and then freeze it overnight.
The mixture will turn a bright pink. Once it is done, I reccommending freezing it for at least 2 hours before eating, but if you can't wait, it will be the consistancy of soft serve, which is still delicious. Add some fresh crushed peppermint candy on top for decoration, and you are done!
That is it! I hope that this gave you som inpiration for a special treat to make this holiday season, and that is a little different from the regular holiday goods. It is very refreshing, and doesn't taste like toothpaste, which was a fear of mine. Have a wonderfull week!
