Happy Sunday! I have taken a break from posting in the past few weeks because I have been so busy. I apologize for not being able to post as regularly, but it gave me a great idea to write a post covering what I have learned recently about managing time. I hope that it helps if you are dealing with a busy schedule, either on a regular day basis, or from time to time.
This is something that I have only started to discover and use recently, but planning can help you keep your chill during the times when you are busy. I keep both an agenda at school for homework, and one at home where I write all my activities for the week. Writing out how your week is going to look keeps you prepared and ready for whats about to happen. Although it may not make things less busy, knowing what you have in advance creates less surprise activities during the week.
2. Set Reminders
Reminders can be distinct, specific things that you have to cover on a certain day, or they can be as simple as "Bed time in 15 minutes". What is important is that they do a little of the brain work for you. When we are busy, our minds tend to forget other important things, and focus on what we are doing, which can lead to a lack of self care. Setting reminders makes sure that you are still thinking of these things, and are often a great help in remember all the things you need to do.
3. Take a Break
Things can get very hectic, very quickly when you are busy, and sometimes you need to prioritize. Tell yourself that it is okay to take a break, because over stressing yourself will just lead to a crash later. Skipping tutoring or cardio class for one week to take a well deserved nap is not a bad thing. Self care comes before any other activity that may seem more important or necessary. It is always important to keep a steady relationship with friends and family also, and sometimes a small break can keep you ahead in the long run.
4. "Me time"
Different than just a break, "me time" is something that one can plan throughout their daily schedule. It can include things like reading, coloring, a bath, listening to music, meditation, or other relaxing things one does by themselves. It is very important to maintain this because even a small amount of time spent caring for oneself can keep you much healthier, especially mentally. Finding an escape from a busy schedule can be even more refreshing than a nap.
When it all narrows down, sometimes we just have too many things on our plate. What's important is to recognize when you are going over your limit, and to take away things that are causing you to be unhappy or unhealthy. Although society may pressure you to do anything and everything, it is okay to pick and choose what is important to you. Keeping a balanced life in which you are happy in is the most essential factor when being successful.
I sincerely hope that this article gave you some inspiration or helped you if you are struggling with being busy. I think that this spring I am going to try and focus in on writing more wordy posts, and thinking less about having to include photos with every single post. That way, I can focus more on creating one aspect of the blog even better, the writing :) Have a great, stress free week!
