This weekend I have come down badly with a common cold, leaving me unavailable to make a nice picturesque blog post for you guys. Instead, I thought I would give you some tips and ticks I've learned from being sick.
Sleep is definitely the most important thing to do when you feel yourself getting a cold. Sleeping is the fastest way to protect and heal from a cold. Many people get sick in the first place from lack of sleep. When sick, I try to get at least 10 hours of sleep (if possible). Resting throughout the day also helps. And if you have the opportunity to take a nap, seize it!
If your stomach is problematic when your sick, eating salty chips, saltines, pretzels, etc. is very helpful. Salt soothes the stomach and helps absorb any aches or pains. Ginger is another great remedy. When I have a stomach-ache, you can usually find me with ginger-ale and saltines.
Drink, drink, drink! Flushing out your body will help you fight the bacteria faster. It is also guaranteed to make you feel better. Drinking lots of water helps your body clean itself out and get rid of unnecessary things.
Things to do
Now that you've learned my three-step method, here are some things you can do to occupy your sick day at home.
1. Catch up on movies or tv shows
3. Read a book
4. Clean (change sheets, spray Lysol, etc.)
5. Listen to music
6. Make chicken soup (another sickness remedy)
7. Color ( I find this very relaxing)
8. Watch old family vidoes
9. Paint your nails
10. Write a blog post ;)
Hopefully you found this helpful for your sick days, this is pretty much what I do. I am very sorry I don't have anything nicer for you guys this week, but next week I'll make it up to you! Let me know in the comments what you do when your sick. Also, what are your sickness remedies? Have a very nice Columbus Day Weekend (hooray for no school/work tomorrow!) and a great week ahead of you.
