Happy Super Bowl Sunday! In my opinion, I think the Monday after should be a holiday so everyone can recover, but sadly it is not. Anyway, Valentines Day is right around the corner, and whether you are going out, having a casual day, or staying in, I have a look for you.
1. Going Out
A floral dress is a perfect option for v-day this year. It is great for a dinner out, but could easily work as a casual outfit too. The dress I am wearing is also super warm because the material is velvet (I might have an obsession with velvet dresses). It looks a little dressed up, but is still very comfy. I paired the look with my favorite boots, because I wear them with everything in the winter. I would choose some walking shoes like I did with this outfit, because it is practically impossible to walk around in heels with the weather. My hair has a slight curl to it because I split it into 4 even sections and wrapped it around my curling iron quickly, then brushed though with my fingers. It gives hair a natural curl to it, without the big frizzy part. Here is where everything is from:
If you want to look like you tried to put together an outfit on v-day, the easiest option is to wear something pink. I love the subtle appearance of the look, as it doesn't scream hearts and pink. The light faded pink sweater is so comfy, and I paired it with white jeans to keep the lightness of the look. The ripped holes in the knees give it a very casual look, and if you wanted to dress it up more, you could easily by wearing hole-less pants. Here is where I got everything:
Sweater: unknown (it was a gift!)
Pants: Pacsun - Bullhead Denim
3. Staying In
If Valentine's Day just isn't for you, then here is the perfect look. A onsie is comfortable and cute at the same time, so next Sunday can be spent lazying around in one. My bunny outfit always reminds me of Valentines Day because the pink belly is in the shape of a heart, along with the little tail in the back. Nonetheless, this is how I will be spending my V-Day this year, sitting around snacking on pumpkin seeds. I haven't done a favorites post in a while, so I figured I would show off one of my favorite snacks recently. Pumpkin seeds are my favorite, and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar makes them taste even better, This snack is called Super Seedz, and if you looking for an alternative to potato chips, I highly recommend them,
Here is a little close up of the footsies of my adorable pajamas. I think the little bunnies are so cute!
Did you enjoy these 3 looks for Valentines Day? Let me know in the comments how you plan to spend your's, whether you are staying in with family or going out with friends. I happen to have a 4 day weekend this week, and I am very excited about having some time off from school. Have a fabulous week and I wish you the best Valentine's Day!
Wow, since my last post received over 3 comments, I'm going to show you one last outfit you can wear with a blanket scarf. This one is probably my favorite (I just love the colors so much!) and its great for going out. The layers help you stay warm when walking in the cold weather, while still looking cute.
The greens and blues accent each other in this very wintry look. I styled jeans with a plain white tee, and layered on some colors after to give the look some depth. Here is what I am wearing:
Top: H & M
Shoes: H & M
Jacket: Forever 21
Scarf: Forvever 21
The scarf has white, dark blue, dark green, and black incorporated throughout, and I made sure I had one article of clothing matching each color, which lets the blanket still stand out, but avoiding it looking awkward.
As you can see, I am very happy in this cozy outfit :)
Sadly, this is the end of my blanket scarf posts. I hope you enjoyed the more constant posts throughout the week, let me know in the comments if you have enjoyed the themed post week and if I should do it again. Right now, I am patiently waiting for a winter storm to hit my area . I am very excited to see some snow, maybe take a few photos in it! What are your plans this weekend? Let me know in the comments below.
I know your probably thinking, "Wait what? It's not Sunday! It hasn't even been a week since she last posted!" But, today I have a small bonus post for you, because over the weekend I wasn't able to decide what I wanted to post, so I eventually came up with the idea to spread it throughout the week. Today, I have another outfit idea to wear with a blanket scarf. If you haven't seen the original posts, 5 ways to wear a blanket scarf, then click here.
This outfit consists of more monochromatic tones, unlike the first look which was mostly blues. Personally, I would wear this look if I was thinking of being more on the dressier side. You could obviously exchange the sneakers for some booties or heels, to make it more professional. Here is where everything is from:
Top: JC Penny (kids section!)
Scarf: Forever 21
That concludes the bonus post for today. Did you enjoy it? Do you want another one? Well, I'll tell you what: if this post can get at least 3 comments by Friday, there might just be one more outfit in store for you. And yes, it includes a blanket scarf. My question for you today though is, which outfit do you like better, the sweater/cozy look from the last post, or the more dressed up look? Let me know in the comments. I hope you are all having a great week so far!
Recently I invested in a blanket scarf, which has been on my wishlist forever. I've always loved the concept of how something can be a blanket and a scarf, because I'm always cold when outside. When researching, I found the possibilities are endless with the ways you can wear them, so I thought I would share 5 ways to style a blanket scarf.
The first way to wear a blanket scarf is my personal favorite: as a shawl. It accents any outfit and keeps you warm, can it get any better? Before I show you the rest of my looks, here is where everything I am wearing is from:
Sweater: H & M
Shoes: H & M
Scarf: Forever 21
This is how I tend to wear all my scarfs, only because it has the loop around my neck to keep me warm, and lets the scarf hang down as an accent. The length of this scarf is perfect for this look, as it doesn't hang to low on the body to be a nuisance.
To wear this style all you need is to take the traditional style and tuck both ends into the loop of the scarf. It will create this braided effect that looks very professional and keeps your neck really warm.
To create this look, first you need to fold your blanket scarf into a triangle. Then twist is a few times and wrap it around your neck. It creates that classic cowboy vibe and works as a great face mask when it is windy. My scarf wasn't the perfect size for this look, so it ended up strangling me a bit, but most blanket scarves tend to be wider.
Creating this look is simple! Tie the two ends of the scarf together to create a loop, and wrap it around your neck at least twice. It creates a super easy, casual look and is a great way to handle a big scarf. Use this style if you want to have a bit more of your top showing, as it only covers the upper part of the body.
I just had my first snowfall! Earlier today, I was walking in from shopping (I might've picked up a pair of boots at the DSW sale) and I noticed a few snowflakes falling. Sooner or later it started really snowing, and now we have a light layer covering the ground. Also, I am extremely happy it is a 3 day weekend, because now I have more time to have fun in the snow ( and maybe take photos for a new blogpost!) Do you have Monday off? Let me know in the comments. I have a few bonus posts that might show up later this week, so if I can reach 3 comments by Wednesday, I have another outfit possibility to wear with a blanket scarf. Hope you have a great week!
The other day I was heading in for a day trip to New York City, and the temperature was cold enough to wear a sweater, but not super cold weather. After a few changes and borrowing from my mother's closet, I put together this look. I thought I would share it with you to give some inspiration about making your outfits unique at this time of year. It can be hard at times, because winter is full of sweaters and jeans, which may get boring after a while. Here is a way to dress up your sweater to make it feel like a brand new outfit.
Keeping warm in the winter can be hard, but layering will be your hero. I am wearing a white button-down underneath my sweater, and it not only adds to the look, it keeps you warm. Even if you don't own a shirt that will add pzazz to your look, wearing a tank underneath will keep you a lot warmer. I love statement jewelry but can never find outfits I want to wear them with. I put this on last minute and personally think it makes the look. Getting a little hint of sparkle can make your outfit unique, and is bound to draw compliments.
Here is what I am wearing on top:
Shirt: white button-down (not mine)
Sweater: Calvin Klein Jeans
And on the bottom (and seen before in multiple outfits):
I consider this outfit great for a day out, where you want to stay warm but not look like a snowman from wearing a lot of layers. It is a combination of everything cozy, but still looks very chic.
I hope you enjoyed the small post this week! Let me know in the comments what you love to wear around this time of year. (Also, did you get any good shopping deals this weekend?) I am very excited for the Christmas season, and will hopefully do some posts about that soon. Have a fabulous week!
In search of a last minute Halloween costume? Look no further. These three costumes came together from finding a base and building up. The creativity belongs to you! The looks are great for a dress-up day at school, a party, or handing out candy.
:As you might have noticed from above, the base for these three costumes are my red pants. You can use anything as your base: a black dress, a blue sweater, a pair of boots, etc. From the base, you build on layers to create your costume. This is very helpful for those who find it hard to imagine what you want to be.
Here is what I am wearing:
Sweater: JC Penny
My ears were found at a local Halloween store, but if you have old ones from DisneyWorld, or want to make a pair yourself, that works equally.
Starting with my red pants, I remembered that I owned a few cute winter hats, and decided to take a peek. When I found this sock monkey one with the red mouth, it fit perfectly with the pants. From there I added a 1/2 sleeved grey sweater and my white converse.
Here is where everything is from:
Sweater: JC Penny
Hat: JC Penny
This outfit combo could work with any hat and matching color clothes. It is great for trick and treating because it is cute, simple, and keeps you warm.
Cat in the Hat
I created this outfit from one of my old Halloween costumes. If you've ever bought a silly hat or have a family member with an old Halloween costume, use it to your advantage. You can also use makeup to enhance the look. I created the nose and whiskers with a black eyeliner. I am wearing a white shirt with a black jacket over it to recreate the cat in the hat. The same white converse (though not visible) are on my feet.
Here is where I got everything:
(same pants and shoes)
You can find a hat like this one at a local Halloween store, hat store, and probably most Target/Walmart stores. I purchased mine at a hat store dedicated to silly hats.
That is it for the Last Minute Halloween costume ideas! This post was more of an inspiration post than anything, With the help of a base layer, costume ideas come to life. Let me know in the comments below what you are being for Halloween. I will try and post on Halloween to show my costume for this year, but I hope you have a great week!
Fall is when the weather starts to get a little colder, making layering a key aspect. Check out my outfit below for some autumn inspiration. It's bound to keep you warm all day and feel comfy at the same time.
When it comes to fall, layering is a must. It is finally the time of year to wear light sweaters, flannels, and boots. Nevertheless, I get very excited and want to wear them all together. Therefore, this look is a very layered, including all of my fall favorites. The shooting location was Riamede Farm, and if you live nearby, I totally recommend checking it out. The apple cider doughnuts are delicious and made fresh!
Here is where everything is from:
Sweater: Abercrombie Kids
Jacket: Forever 21 (similar)
When wearing a very light sweater, like this blue one, I enjoy putting a flannel over it to keep myself warmer. Not only is it a unique way to style your clothes, but it makes you outfit look more layered. I understand if you can't fit a flannel over heavy winter sweaters, but they look adorable with light fall outfits. The jacket is great with layered outfits, and adds so much to the look with it's multiple textures. I kept the bottom simple with plain black pants (high-waisted, because why not?) and my favorite boots. Overall, this look is great for cold weather and makes you look comfy yet chic.
Here's a little college of the orchard we went to. I purchased a large pumpkin for carving later this month. They also had apple, tomato, corn, and sunflower picking open. The farm advertises themselves as a quiet, traditional farm without the carnival. It was located in a beautiful area and the farm was small and cute. Overall, my favorite of the two orchards I've visited so far this year. (The other one being in my Apple Picking post.)
Cozy-ed up on my couch right now watching the Harry Potter weekend, anyone else? Let me know in the comments if/where you got your pumpkins this year, or if you know of any great local farms. Also let me know your favorite things to layer in the fall, I'd love to hear your opinion. I hope this picturesque post made up for last weeks wordy one. Lots of love! xx Hanna
Welcome to the last of three back-to-school inspiration ideas. If you would like to see more different types of outfits, please comment below. This last look is made from mostly thrift shop steals, and together make a perfect preppy-style look. The combination of lace, flowy peplums, and cardigans give off a smart vibe. A great first-impression for your new teachers!
Anything peplum automatically reminds me of preppy style. That is the center of the outfit. I styled it with a layered necklace for a professional look. The cardigan is perfect for colder weather. Heels or flats work equally well with this outfit, but I chose sneakers to give it more of a school-ish vibe. Here is where everything is from:
Top: H & M
Sweater: Hello Kitty Brand
Bottom: JC Penny (Arizona brand jeans)
Necklace: Nordstrom Rack (similiar)
Here is a closer look at the necklace and t-shirt. I actually bought the t-shirt at a second-hand store, called Plato's Closet. The store it was originally from is H & M. The layered necklace is not three seperates, but one necklace that looks like three. Despite that fact that I adore this necklace, it would be nicer if I could wear each separately.
This is a close up of the jeans and shoes. The jeans were also found at a second hand store, called Small Threads. The brand name in the jeans was Arizona, so I knew they were originally from JC Penny. My vans are a year old and still in great condition so I highly recommend them as sneakers for the fall.
Back-to-school outfits are officially over! I'm sure most of you are now back in school, but I won't be until September 8. Let me know in the comments if you want more back-to-school themed posts, and what they should be about. If you decide to re-create this preppy outfit, tag me on Instagram or Twitter so I can see it. I would love to see your look, whether or not it is tomboy, simple, or preppy.
Question of the Day:
What grade are you entering? (or are you graduated?)
Today is the second of three outfits to lead you to school stardom. For this look, I paired a light white sweater with black leggings. I added a bunch of rings from a set, and threw on turquoise converse for a pop of color. This look is great for those who tend to like simplify and comfy items. I always like to add a pop of color when wearing outfits like this, although it is not necessary.
The top from H & M is plain with a hint of detail at the bottom. The light material makes it perfect for fall. Leggings are a staple item for any closet, and are usually available in any store. Here is where everything is from:
Top: H & M
Here is a close-up of the detail in the shirt/sweater. Personally, I think it is incredibly detailed, but doesn't give too much pzazz. The rings, which you can now see better, are a set of 10 different sizes. There are midi rings includes which I adore.
That is the conclusion of my second back-to-school look. If you decide to recreate this look, please tag me on Instagram or Twitter with your pictures. I cannot wait to see them!
Question of the Day:
Favorite thing about fall?
Another school year is approaching, and with it comes the opportunity to change up your style. Below I have an outfit that will hopefully inspire you in the direction you would like to go. If today's style isn't your thing, there will be another up tomorrow. All of the outfits are great for a school day in the fall. I linked whatever I had that was also online to help you find this style easier.
This outfit I designed with a bit of a tomboyish look including boots, denim, and a tee. My hair is in a half-up bun. Here is where everything is from:
Top: American Eagle Outfitters
Bottom: American Eagle Outfitters ( Super Soft Indigo jeans)
Shoes: H & M
This close up of the t-shirt better shows what the pocket says. I think the "Hug More!" adds a girly side to the outfit. The shirt advertised that it might vary in color as you wash it, which I thought was cool, so I'll let you know how it looks after a few weeks of wearing.
I just wanted to note that these Super Soft Indigo Jeans are actually really soft. For those of you short people, like me, here's a shopping tip. Recently, I've started to make sure the jeans I buy are cropped jeans, because it fits me like a regular jean should. On me, this pair cuts off right above the ankle.
These boots from H & M only seem to get better with age. When your petit the small heel really makes a difference. The best part is that they are incredibly comfy and warm because they are lined with fur. Honestly, they are my favorite item every fall.
Don't be sad! Nevertheless, today was the first of 3 outfits that will be up for back-to-school. Let me know in the comments what your general style will be this year. If you decide to re-create a tomboy outfit, tag me on Instagram or Twitter with your pictures. I'd love to see them!
Question of the Day:
A seventeen-year-old fashion obsessed girl, who stands just under 5 feet tall.
